    Crosswinds Golf Club, located in Plymouth, MA is seeking an Assistant Superintendent that will work alongside the Superintendent to ensure the golf course expectations are met.

    Crosswinds Golf Club is a 27-hole public, privately owned golf course, designed by Hurdzen and Fry. The original 18 holes were built in 2002, and the third nine built in 2006. Crosswinds is a large property with huge elevation changes and beautiful views. There are approximately five acres of greens, forty-five acres of fairways, seven acres of tees and about fifty acres of rough. The property consists of a large driving range with both grass and mats for tee boxes and a short game area.

    We are looking for a self-motivated individual that meets daily, weekly, and yearly expectations set by the Superintendent. The right candidate will lead and motivate staff alongside the Superintendent with a great attitude and create a team environment where no one is bigger than the task at hand.

    Job Description

    • The Assistant works directly alongside the Superintendent in all aspects of turf maintenance.
    • Supervises and assists maintenance staff in daily duties.
    • This position requires a professionally driven individual who operates with the highest expectations and efficiency.
    • Strong organizational skills are required as it relates to scheduling, budgeting, record‐keeping, and leadership.
    • Required to lead seasoned crew in projects, applications, and daily operations.
    • Individual understands and demonstrates the requirements and demands of turf maintenance at a high‐level facility.

    Experience:

    • 2 years of golf course experience
    • Able to maintain and operate equipment safely.
    • Fertilize and chemical applications.
    • Troubleshoot and repair irrigation.
    • Daily setup of golf course

    Requirements:

    • Must be motivated by a demanding work environment.
    • Must possess a strong work ethic and attitude.

    Education:

    Description:
    Wollaston Golf Club is a Private 18 hole Golf Course located in Milton, Ma. Designed by George and Tom Fazio in 1975 the Club is rich in history, hosting the 1992 US Junior Amateur won by Tiger Woods. The Club is also home of the Fallon Cup which field produces some of the best amateur players not only in New England but the entire country. The 152 acre property includes a full driving range and chipping area as well as 4 tennis courts and an olympic size pool. Recently the club implemented a master plan by architect Bryan Bowers of Fazio Golf Course Design. Included in the scope of the work is changing the slopes of the greens to accommodate modern day green speeds, while also moving bunkers to fit modern day length. Extensive tree work is on-going to enhance vistas of the Blue Hills Reservation which abuts the property.

    Details:
    The Second Assistant will work closely with the Superintendent and the Lead Assistant on the day to day operations. The right candidate will be responsible for chemical and fertilizer applications as well as small crew management. A working knowledge of weed/insect/and disease identification is a plus. Candidates will be asked to handwater green and tee surfaces to ensure firm and fast conditions. Troubleshooting of Toro E-OSMAC Irrigation System will be required. There will be a major focus in the coming seasons for in-house drainage projects.

    Highlights:

    • Rotate every other weekend off with Lead Assistant in season (April 1st - Dec. 1st)
    • 45-55 hrs. per week in season (April 1st - Dec 1st)
    • Weekends off December thru March 40 hrs. per week in the off season.
    • Staff is comprised of 10 full time year round employees (20 employees in season)

    2nd Assistant Superintendent
    Duxbury Yacht Club, Duxbury, MA

    Duxbury Yacht Club is a Private 18-hole, golf course with a New Rain Bird Irrigation system, along with, Practice Putting Green, Short game area with Practice Bunker, Driving Range, 9 Clay Tennis courts, 4 Paddle tennis courts, 4 Pickleball courts, and Olympic size Swimming pool.

    Job responsibilities will include:

    • Assisting the Superintendent and 1st Assistant Superintendent in day-to-day operations.
    • Ability to supervise and handle delegation of duties to a crew of approximately 15.
    • Should have a working knowledge of turf types, diseases, insects, and other potential turf problems.
    • Knowledge of operation and maintenance of irrigation systems and repairs as needed.
    • Flexibility to adapt to unexpected changes to daily work orders, weather conditions etc.
    • Liquid and granular fertilizer applications, pesticide, and other plant protectant applications.
    • Daily course setup and inspection.
    • One day of weekend crew supervision.

    Requirements:

    • Must have valid driver’s license.
    • Must have or be able to acquire a Massachusetts pesticide applicators license.

    Experience Requirements:

    • Pesticide/Fertilizer application experience a plus
    • Irrigation repair experience a plus but not necessary.
    • Recent or upcoming graduates are encouraged to apply.

    NGM Inc is responsible for maintaining Miacomet Golf Course and Siasconset Golf Course, the only public golf courses on Nantucket Island, MA.  Miacomet is a semi private 18 hole resort style golf course open year round, and Siasconset is a 9 hole seasonal operation.  Since 2014 Miacomet has been ranked the #2 public golf course in the state and both courses have been awarded course of the year by the NGCOA.  

    Miacomet prides itself on world class conditions while handling a high volume of rounds with a fast paced work environment, and Siasconset is a smaller operation while still striving for championship conditions.  This position will be an integral part of the management team and will be involved in all aspects of the operation, working closely with the Superintendent and Assistant on a daily basis.  Their main responsibilities will involve; irrigation, spraying, supervising and training employees, project management, crew leadership, scheduling and record keeping   

    Miacomet just completed an irrigation project in the spring of '23 and will be going forward with a bunker renovation in the very near future.  Siasconset will be installing a new well/ pump system in the spring of '24 and is planning an irrigation project and tee renovation for the winter of '24/25.  

    Educational Requirements
    A degree or certificate in a related field is beneficial, but sufficient work experience will also be taken into consideration.  In the past 3 years we have put 6 individuals through a winter school turf certificate program.

    Experience Requirements
    We are looking for someone with at least 2-3 years industry experience.  The 2nd Assistant should have the knowledge to individually accomplish as well as train employees on the majority of tasks related to golf course maintenance.  They will be expected to take on a leadership role and to help the entire operation to succeed.  We are willing to train the right individual with the right attitude and help them further their career.
