    Falmouth Country Club is a 27 hole golf course facility. 

    Salary is dependent on experience.

    Position Summary:

    As a key member of the property’s golf course maintenance team, the Assistant Superintendent reports directly to the Golf Course Superintendent and assists with the day-to-day oversight of the maintenance and agronomic practices of the golf course and adjacent grounds, including but not limited to the clubhouse landscaping and maintenance complex.

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for all phases of golf course maintenance as directed by Superintendent
    • Supervises foreman, irrigation technician and other employees in the maintenance department as needed and instructed by Superintendent
    • Prepares weekly schedules for foreman, irrigation staff and other employees in the maintenance department as directed by superintendent
    • Issues written and oral instructions to maintenance personnel; assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness and conformance to policies and procedures
    • Assists the Superintendent in preparing short-term and long-term agronomic strategies to maintenance of the golf course daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly fertilization, irrigation, etc. schedules
    • Calibrates and operates pesticide sprayers
    • Manages proper application and documentation of all chemicals and fertilizers as outlined in agronomic plan and weekly schedule
    • Assist the superintendent in development, presentation, and documentation of safety meetings
    • Perform related duties as assigned

    Educational Requirements

    • Must have 1 -2 years turfgrass management experience
    • Experience Requirements
    • Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    • Must be highly organized, efficient and detail oriented
    • Must possess basic computer skills – Word and Excel
    • Supervisory experience strongly desired
    • Strong business aptitude and passion for the golf business strongly desired
    • A basic knowledge of budgeting and expense management strongly desired
    • GCSAA Member or apprentice preferred, but not required

    In preparation for the U.S. Open we will be working closely with Course Architect Gil Hanse, on course wide enhancements and master plan improvements.  As a member of the Grounds department, you will be involved in all facets of golf course maintenance and operations, including in house construction projects. The ideal candidate must be a team
    player with a drive, passion and positive attitude, striving to succeed in the turf industry.    

    Assistant-in-Training position reports directly to the Golf Course Superintendent and Director of Grounds. 

    Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Assist Superintendents in managing all aspects of a large scale grounds operations
    • Involvement in daily operations and management meetings
    • Assists in the maintenance and record keeping of a very large equipment fleet
    • Winter Maintenance and Construction
    • Working with a leadership team to maintain a culture that results in successful career-oriented people

    Education and Experience:

    • Certificate, Associate or Bachelor's degree in Turfgrass Management or related field.
    • Minimum of two years golf course experience is preferred, but willing to train the right candidate.
    • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn. 
    • Massachusetts Pesticide Applicators License within 60 days of employment.
    • Massachusetts Hoisting License within 180 days of employment.

    Eastward Ho! Is a private 18-hole Herbert Fowler design located on the coastline of Cape Cod. Built in 1922 the course boasts unique architecture that follows the topography of glacial moraines. Eastward Ho! is consistently in the top 100. Currently we are running Toro Lynx irrigation software.  New irrigation installation with HDPE and 2 wire system in 3-5 years.

    Educational Requirements
    High School or College Diploma

    Experience Requirements

    • Golf course irrigation experience.
    • Experience with Toro Lynx software is a plus.
    • Troubleshoot and repair satellites (Toro-Network VP).
    • Irrigation troubleshooting and repair.

    Special Requirements

    • Work with the Superintendent and Assistant with daily, weekly, and long-term planning.
    • Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
    • Team oriented, willing to listen, learn, and lead staff.
    • Be a self-starter with a positive attitude and willingness to do whatever it takes.
    • Thorough and accurate record keeping.
    • Pump and pump house maintenance.
    • Motor and sump pump maintenance.
    • Irrigation programming.
    • Use tools and equipment in a proper and safe manor.
    • Perform detailed repairs.
    • Be a team player.
    • Proficient in electrical wiring and electrical issues.
    • Comprehend tasks.
    • Organized and professional.
    • Able to manage an irrigation budget and order parts.
    • Occasionally manage small crew for projects.
    • Knowledge of hydraulics related to irrigation systems.
