The Town of Yarmouth is searching for a Golf Course Spray Technician to join their Golf Division team!

Working under the general supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent, the Spray Technician performs general golf course maintenance to include but not limited to specialized equipment operation, mowing, tree work, golf course construction, daily setup, and labor duties as assigned.  The Spray Technician applies pesticides and fertilizers in accordance with all applicable laws, including record keeping.  The Spray Technician will perform irrigation repair as required.

RECOMMENDED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma, one to three years prior work experience preferably in golf course related maintenance or the operation of landscape and turf equipment, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.

Massachusetts Class D Driver’s License and MA Hoisting Engineer’s License Grade 2B are required.  MA Pesticide Applicator’s License required.  The employee must successfully complete a CORI certification and pre-employment physical.

Physical requirements: 

Work requires moderate, intermittent physical strength and physical effort on a regular daily basis.  May be exposed to equipment, machinery, noise, odors, dust, smoke, heat, cold, oil, dirt, grease, etc.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Town of Yarmouth is searching for Golf Course Tech I to join their GOLF DIVISION team!

Works under the direct supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent.

Performs a variety of routine and repetitive tasks as a member of a crew on assigned location; functions are generally well defined and limited in scope but may involve a choice of two or more alternative approaches to well described problems.

Skilled and Technical work assisting in construction, maintenance or repair projects; including work in operating automotive special purpose golf course equipment; all other related work as required.

Operates turf equipment of moderate complexity and a variety of light and heavy equipment. Examples include; riding lawn mowers; snow plows; and associated power and hand tools; performs minor maintenance on equipment; digs holes by hand and may perform irrigation repairs. In the winter, may be required to remove snow and ice by plowing, sanding, salting roads and sidewalks on the golf course.

RECOMMENDED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalency.
• One year experience in golf course maintenance or operating a variety of landscaping and turf equipment, equipment maintenance preferred as well as construction and maintenance activities; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A Massachusetts Class D Driver’s license is required.

• High school diploma or equivalency.
• One year experience in maintaining and repairing motor Equipment preferred.
• A Massachusetts Class D Driver’s license is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to perform heavy manual labor under varying weather conditions for long periods of time.
• Ability to drive turf equipment for long periods of time during all types of weather conditions.

GOLF MASTER MECHANIC

The Town of Brewster is seeking qualified, professional, team-oriented applicants for the position of Master Mechanic for the Captains Golf Course, a 36-hole golf facility. This position implements a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for the golf department’s comprehensive fleet of equipment. The maintenance program includes repair of equipment, detailed recording keeping, and maintaining parts and supplies for equipment and services.

Under the direction of the Golf Superintendent, the Master Mechanic will inspect, diagnose, and repair a wide variety of specialized golf course equipment for a 36-hole golf courses facility and driving range. Assist the Superintendent in planning for long range equipment needs, determining specifications for new equipment and accessories for current equipment. The Master Mechanic places safety as top priority and is responsible for maintaining an orderly and clean service and maintenance area. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to modernize preventative maintenance systems and contribute to a culture focused on accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

High School diploma and a minimum of three years of experience in a lead mechanical or fleet management role, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. 2A and 1C hoisting licenses required, or the ability to obtain licenses in the first year of employment. Head Golf Course Superintendent

Swansea Country Club is seeking an experienced, motivated, and hands-on Head Golf Course Superintendent to lead  all aspects of golf course maintenance, grounds, agronomy, staffing, and property improvement. 

The property includes an 18-hole Geoffrey Cornish-designed Championship Golf Course, 9-hole Par 3 Course, private  Pool Club, driving range, practice areas, and surrounding grounds. 

We are looking for more than someone to simply maintain the property. We are seeking a strong team leader with  vision, pride of ownership, and the ability to continually improve course conditions, presentation, operational  efficiency, and the overall appearance of the facility. 

The ideal candidate will be highly visible, hands-on, organized, and comfortable leading from the front while  recruiting, developing, and retaining a strong maintenance team. 

Course Conditioning Expectations 

Swansea Country Club has developed a reputation for providing golf course conditions that compare favorably with  other public and semi-private facilities throughout the region. Maintaining and continuing to improve those standards  will be a major priority of the position. 

• Putting Greens: Maintain near-private-club-quality putting surfaces that are healthy, smooth, consistent, and  faster than those found at most public golf courses in the surrounding market. 

• Fairways: Maintain tight, consistent heights of cut and fairway conditions that compare favorably with, and  exceed, the standards of most competing public golf courses in the area. 

• Maintain strong overall presentation standards throughout tees, rough, bunkers, green surrounds, practice areas,  and the remainder of the property. 

• Develop agronomic programs that balance exceptional playing conditions with long-term turf health, staffing  resources, budgetary considerations, and environmental stewardship. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Daily maintenance and conditioning of the 18-hole Championship Course and 9-hole Par 3 Course • Maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, rough, bunkers, practice facilities, and surrounding property • Development and execution of comprehensive agronomic programs 

• Fertilizer and pesticide applications and oversight 

• Irrigation system operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and long-term planning 

• Equipment maintenance oversight and development of preventative maintenance programs • Recruitment and hiring of a qualified golf course mechanic when necessary 

• Daily golf course setup, including cups, tee markers, bunker preparation, and playing conditions • Maintenance and appearance of Pool Club grounds and other landscaped areas throughout the property • Development of short- and long-term property improvement plans 

• Identification and prioritization of capital needs 

• Oversight of drainage, turf improvement, tree management, landscaping, and course enhancement projects • Coordination with outside vendors, contractors, consultants, and service providers 

• Management of departmental budgets, purchasing, inventory, and labor 

• Management and monitoring of payroll and seasonal staffing levels 

• Compliance with all applicable environmental, pesticide, workplace safety, and regulatory requirements 

Leadership Expectations 

A major component of this position is the ability to develop and lead a successful team. The successful candidate  must be able to:

Qualifications 

• Previous experience as a Golf Course Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, or in a comparable turf management leadership position 

• Strong knowledge of golf course agronomy and turfgrass management 

• Experience applying and supervising the application of pesticides and fertilizers 

• Massachusetts Pesticide Applicator’s License, or the ability to obtain one within the first 90 days of employment • Experience managing irrigation systems 

• Knowledge of golf course equipment and preventative maintenance programs 

• Supervisory experience managing staff members, vendors, and contractors 

• Strong organizational and communication skills 

• Ability to recruit, train, motivate, and retain employees 

• Ability to develop and manage departmental budgets 

• Ability to manage labor and payroll effectively 

• Ability to prioritize projects and develop short- and long-term improvement plans 

• Strong understanding of workplace safety and regulatory compliance 

Golf course turf education, certification, or equivalent professional experience is preferred.

Salary Range: $100,000–$115,000 annually, commensurate with experience, plus benefits and eligibility for the  property’s management bonus program. 

Exceptional candidates may warrant consideration above the advertised range based upon experience,  qualifications, leadership ability, and demonstrated success managing comparable golf facilities.
